FACILITY GUIDELINES INSTITUTEMany new building types are now requiring state-level conformance review of the FGI, or better known as Facility Guidelines Institute. This plan review is often above and beyond the building code and it involves state agencies that are not intuitively known to most individuals. FGI reviews are commonly required four: hospitals, health care institutions, assisted living, outpatient medical practices, and even small model residency facilities. This plan review can often be very daunting to newcomers. JDC Architecture & Design has been working with the FGI plan reviewers for over twenty years and has streamlined the analysis process and will help identify potential building challenges and consult on design strategies before these become potential headaches to new facilities.
